West Bend School Board Meeting Stacked with WEACs

...Ginny Maziarka has 3 posts (one, two, three) outlining her distaste for last night's school board meeting...

  1. One more example of Ginny's shallow analysis of the situation. infact, it is mostly speculation and conjecture. Thanks for making yourself even less relevant Ginny.

  2. I especially like how she so confidently claims that this meeting was unrepresentative of the community, while last week's (obviously) was more representative.

Them glasses are rose colored, Virginia.

  3. I've asked her for evidence to support that claim.

  4. Ginny answers only to God, Belling & Owen. In that order.

  5. Here's my comment. I doubt it'll get posted but...

This meeting was no more misrepresented than the previous ones, you just weren't expecting that majority last night to have an opposing view to your own. This isn't about taxes, nor the wrongs of the school board. Its about how these cuts would affect our schools. Have you seen everything they are changing? Ten hour schedualing? Some kids barely have time to do their homework between school, extracurriculars, athletics and home life as it is. Extend this to 5 p.m. and there will either be a huge deciline in athletic and extracurricular participation, or kids will stay up till 2 a.m. every morning just to finish their classes.

We students want to protect our programs because they allow us to expand our interests. How would students know if their gifted in playing the clarinet, or the violin; if they're good at basketball or swimming. Without these programs being easily accessable, students will never be able to expand their horizons in life. Several students expressed their thoughts, opinions, and fears very articulately, something you failed to mention.

I understand that taxes are generally not a happy subject, but they are a necessary evil at best. Certain things are worth paying for, however, as expressed by many parents that gave their thoughts last night. They understand how negativly this will affect their kids, and they want to preserve the diversity of activities offered at our schools.

Also, your comment about lamenting over the death of a student is out of line and disrespectful in the extreme.

  6. Well said, Austin. Interesting that she allowed your comment but not mine simply asking for empirical evidence to support her claim that last night's meeting was misrepresentative, while the previous one was somehow more representative.

  7. Ginny will never understand the tax levy issue because her only "investment" is in the pocketbook. She homeschools her offspring so she does what she wants in that respect. Ask some of her neighbors what her offspring do while she isn't home. As for Owen, one at Kettle Moraine HS, and two at Good Shepherd Lutheran - he'll never put his offspring in the public schools either. What this is for Ginny, Owen, and their cadre, is an opportunity to bitch about something. They have no solutions that are viable because they don't have offspring that will be affected. Ginny, again, was overwhelmed by the opposition and this is defeat number three for her. I even think Stepanski, her mole on the board, is beginning to see her for what she's worth. And there weren't "panic" tactics - the "assembly" of which she speaks was voluntary - an after school meeting. She just can't get her facts straight because she doesn't want to understand that the FACTS contradict her illogical thinking.

  8. Local MLIS Student, I honestly didn't expect her to allow my comment. As for yours, I'm not sure, but she seems to avoid any questions that require her to explain herself.

  9. I feel really bad for her kids if she homeschools them. Belling 101? Can you imagine what they are(n't) learning?

  10. I find it interesting that Owen came to that meeting last night with alcohol on his breath.

  12. it wouldn't matter. I want to at least talk about the issues or get some discussion, which no longer happens on her blog.

  13. Stepanski is still talking out of the side of his mouth to all sides. I am looking forward to how Ginny, et al, perceive his vote on the levy: He is a traitor to the cause or Carlson, Herdirch, et al, bullied him. Other takes?

Stepanski is the head of the stakeholder committee that is to inform the public of the goings on with the board. Let him know how he's doing.

Owen at the meeting last night with alcohol on his breath? His prior commitment was more important than this meeting?

During his interview by Steven Hyden, January 25, 2009, Owen said, "As conservatives, we have a responsibility to make sure our voices continue to be heard." He sides first with fermented beverages?

Owen adds to this interview: "A robust political discourse is important to make sure we make smart decisions." and "I do have a number of customers and peers at work who are liberal. But what I’ve found is that if you approach things with an honesty of debate, that we can have honest differences of opinion, it doesn’t affect those personal relationships." Owen's dictionary defines "discourse" and "honesty of debate" quite differently than a reporter who follows the ethics code or a debate judge.

    J. Steffas is a pupil of this ilk.

  14. This has been a great site so far for eliciting viewpoints that are not welcome at the other sites, but please be careful about adding statements that could be construed as speculative. Absent a BAC test, it is pure speculation. Although, in retrospect, it does put that conversation with Joe Carlson in perspective.

Hate to see this site shut down or have people flee this forum because of irresponsible behavior is what I am saying.

  15. Interesting point. Can you provide the evidence that Ginny's butt smells? You're not doing a lot to further the discourse yourself, ya know.

  16. Actually as i stood next to him while he talked to kris beaver and bruce koenig it was obvious that he had been drinking. the smell was clear.
